The scholarships will be administered by the National College for Teaching & Leadership (NCTL) working in partnership with approved training providers (such as the SBM Partnership) and will be available to participants undertaking SBM provision during 2016, subject to applicants meeting the scholarship eligibility criteria and the training provider's programme eligibility.
The scholarship will be allocated to applicants wishing to undertake professional development during 2016 and is intended as a part scholarship. Applicants will need to ensure that they are able to pay the remaining course fees needed to complete their study. Applicants will also be responsible for any additional training costs incurred, such as travel, accommodation, subsistence, cover, printing, etc. (as appropriate).
Note that the funding outcomes may not be known until after the start of a programme, but if you are successful we will amend or refund fees as appropriate.

Who can apply?
The SBM national scholarship is open to individuals employed as a school business manager, or equivalent, in a state-maintained school (includes most academies) in England.
Important: Before accessing and completing the NCTL's online application form, applicants must be able to respond 'yes' to all of the following six statements (summarised below):
- I have the support of my headteacher or chair of governors to undertake the SBM programmes/units
- I have the means to fund the remaining course fees if my scholarship application is successful.
- I am currently employed in a state-maintained school in England and working as an SBM/bursar or equivalent.
- I am ready to start the programme in 2016
- I have the appropriate SLT membership for my proposed programme of study:
- Level 4 (CSBM) – it is not a requirement to be a member of SLT
- Level 5 (DSBM) – I work closely with SLT
- Level 6 (ADSBM) – I am a full member of SLT
If you do not meet these requirements, unfortunately you will not be eligible for scholarship funding, but you can still undertake the SBM programmes and pay for them independently.
You can apply for your SBM programme on this site - see programme links in section above (or on the right hand panel). The separate online application form for scholarship funding is only available using the National College's online application form
You should apply to join our programme before completing the scholarship application form as you will need to include information about your intended programme of study in the scholarship application. Please note that you do not need confirmation that you have been offered a place on the programme before you apply for a scholarship.
